Show Me The Money

I have an arrangement with my daughter, now 6, that if she performs a few regular chores in her room (bed-making, cleaning up) I will provide her a weekly allowance. We had recently been to the bank together to set up a savings account for her, and she was excited about the prospect of putting more money in her account. At the end of the first week, she and I agreed that I owed her money for the good work she had done, and I suggested that I would write her a check which she could deposit in her account. She replied: “Actually, I’d rather have cash.”
